Ryan True To Romney on Policy by Saying

Ryan True To Romney on Policy by Saying Nothing http://bit.ly/QEonjO Tampa, Fla. – RYAN LAYS INTO ‘OBAMACARE’ BUT STAYS MUM ON HIS OWN PLANS – Paul Ryan warned that President Barack Obama’s health law was the greatest threat to the Medicare program, but mentioned next to nothing of his own ambitious plans for health reform. Last night in his speech accepting the vice presidential nod at the Republican National Convention, Ryan threw red meat to the crowd of repeal-hungry Republicans. He said the health law is symbolic of the problems in Obama’s presidency. “Obamacare, as much as anything else, explains why a presidency that began with such anticipation now comes to such a disappointing close,” he said, and the crowd roared. The POLITICO story: http://politi.co/N0MZlv WHAT HE DIDN’T SAY – Ryan had quite a few health care zingers in his speech, but what he didn’t say is just as important as what he did. One of his biggest applause lines was this one: “The biggest, coldest power play of all in Obamacare came at the expense of the elderly.” That helped him set up his charge that Obama “raided” $716 billion from Medicare to fund the health care law – the most powerful weapon he and Mitt Romney have to fight back against the Democrats’ Medicare attacks. What Ryan didn’t say, though, is that the law also fills in the Medicare “doughnut hole” and offers new preventive care benefits to seniors, including free wellness exams.
